BHM is an international annual month of recognising and valuing the inspirational individuals and events that have shaped black and african diaspora. Here in the UK, and across the Ocean in the US and Canada, we remember and celebrate the important people in history throughout the month that shaped our society today.
First being celebrated in the UK in 1987, Black History Month is marked annually in the UK during the month of October and in the USA during the month of February, with important reference to the history of black society. With the step by step growth in society, Black History Month went from receiving a lukewarm response to being an international celebration of significant and great people, shaping history as it stands today. Our UK guide to Black History Month clearly lays out the important marks in history to be remembered and the people who contributed to a more equal and progressive society.
Our past titles, available to search through, dating back to 2009 include pinnacle figures both today and in history. As usual we bring you a selection of bHM activities during the Black History Month season so you can become actively involved all over the UK in Black History Month. Not only this, but Black History Month magazine delivers UK stories, fashion, history and music, generating a wealth of knowledge and buzz around one of the most important history months in the UK.
